Bio

Sal DiDomenico was born on June 20, 1971 in Cambridge to his parents Marie and Sal. Sal’s Father grew up in Cambridge and his Mother grew up in Chelsea.

Sal was brought up working at Flowers By Sal, the family business in Cambridge that his parents have now owned for over 4 decades, and attended the Cambridge Public School System. From an early age, Sal was raised to realize the value of hard work.

After graduating from Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School, Sal continued his studies at Boston College. While pursuing his degree, Sal served as a Legislative Aide to State Representative Peter Vellucci. There, he served the needs of the residents of Representative Vellucci’s district in the Cambridge and East Somerville area. Sal’s early experience on Beacon Hill eventually molded his style and mission - that people need the help of government, from working families, veterans, senior citizens, educators, and public safety officials.

Sal worked for twelve years in the hospitality industry at Sonesta International Hotels and Marriot International. Before his departure to the State Senate, Sal was a Senior Account Executive at the Cambridge Marriott and Boston Long Wharf Marriott.

Sal moved to Everett with his wife Tricia, where they continue to raise their 2 boys, Matthew and Sal. Matthew and Sal are currently students in the Everett Public School system. Tricia is a graduate of Saugus public schools and a special needs teacher at the LABBB Collaborative in Belmont. She currently serves as Vice President of her local affiliate of the Massachusetts Teachers Association.

In 2004 Sal was appointed to the Everett Common Council. Quickly and tirelessly, Sal brought his professional experience as well as his desire to help to his neighbors and community. Sal, never one to shy from hard work, dedicated his time on the Council to building a better city for the residents of Everett. Sal’s leadership on the Council was rewarded through his many Chairmanships – such as the Budget and Finance Committees. Ultimately, he was unanimously elected to serve as President of the Council in 2007. His colleagues recognized not only his ability to professionally deliberate an issue on the floor, but also negotiate legislation and budgets. The citizens of Everett also showed their confidence and support by giving him the highest vote total of any Councilor in the last three city elections.

In 2007, while still a City Councilor, Sal was asked to serve as Chief of Staff to former Senator Anthony Galluccio at the Massachusetts State House. He is serving the citizens of the Middlesex, Suffolk & Essex District on Beacon Hill. Behind many of the initiatives in the district, Sal played a key role in preparing legislation, negotiating through the budget process, and tirelessly working to ensure that the people of Massachusetts retain their core services, such as housing, education, public safety, healthcare, and both job retention and job creation.

Sal has consistently shown a dedication to his community and public service. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Everett Democratic City Committee and Vice Chair of the Ward 3 Democratic City Committee. He has been a member and President of numerous cultural and civic organizations throughout the district including the E-Club of Everett and the Dante Alighieri Society of Cambridge. He is also currently the President of the Sons of Italy in Everett and the S.S. Cosmas and Damian Society.

Sal has a unique understanding of the issues and concerns that are important to the residents of Allston, Brighton, Cambridge, Charlestown, Chelsea, Everett, Revere, Saugus, Somerville and this will allow him to continue working on their behalf from his very first day in office.
